EXPOSITIONS

On the occasion of the free entrance in the museums we would like to propose you some
very interesting expositions who are taking place at this period:

Le petit Nicolas

Summary: Petit Nicolas turns 50! This major exposition commemorates the 50-years anniversary of the popular French comic book character, little Nicholas or Le Petit Nicolas.
The Hotel de Ville,in Paris, has thus put together this exhibition dedicated entirely to the little protagonist, an homage to his creators René Goscinny and Jean-Jacques Sempé. Over 160 original drawings, signed Sempé, have thus been displayed alongside a number of Goscinny's manuscripts -- there is no better way to understand the evolution Petit Nicolas from a humble seed to a towering monument.

From 6 march au 4 july
Salon d'accueil de l'Hôtel de Ville - 29 rue de rivoli 75004 Paris.
Every day except for Sunday. 10h-19h.
Free entrance
Reservation for groups : 01 42 76 51 53

The Louvre invites the comics

Le Louvre invite la bande dessinéeJusqu'au 13 avril au musée du Louvre , 1er. M° Palais Royal-Musée du Louvre. Tél. : 01 40 20 53 17. Everyday except for Thusday. de 9 h à 18 h (Wednesday and Friday until 22h). Entrance : 9 et 6 €.

For the first time! The institution of Paris invites the comics(Bandes Desinees) in his walls. A project proposed by Fabrice Douar, this comic album series is one among many manifestations of the museum’s policy of openness to contemporary art. From French bandes dessinées (BDs) to Japanese mangas and American comic books, from science fiction to social commentary, from caricatures and cartoons to illustrated diaries, the comic strip universe continues to push back its boundaries and has become a key realm of contemporary cultural practice.

Andy Warhol, at the Grand Palais.

The exhibition "Le grand Monde d' Andy Warhol" at the Grand Palais in Paris, presents a selection of nearly 150 works among the impressive "portraits gallery" made by Andy Warhol from 60's to his death. It depicts a cosmopolitan and American society. This "grand monde" (or high society), fascinated by show business and role playing, is screened in the spirit of a documented report.

18 mars - 13 juillet 2009

Ouvert tous les jours, sauf le mardi, de 10h à 22h. Fermeture le jeudi à 20h.
Plein tarif : 11 € - Tarif réduit : 8 €

Free Museum Entrance!

We have some pretty cool news that you might already heard of:
TF1-LCI musée Louvre
Beginning April 4, visitors under 25 years old, as well as professors, will be admitted into the French national museums and monuments for free. This includes Paris’ Louvre and the Musee d’Orsay as well as Pompidou and many other museums. The normal admission fee for adults at the Louvre, for example, was around €9 ($12).
As students in "art school" we had already the right in some museums for free entrance
but it had to wait (usually) about an hour in the queue to take the "laisser-passez" card which confirms it.

So..from now on feel free to visit as many expositions as you want!!

GATHERING: picnic next wednesday!

Some students asked us to organize a picnic again. We propose this wednesday. Bring something for you, the objective of this picnic is not to share goods, but to meet new comers. The meeting point is in "parc de Belleville" around 12:30p.m.

For those who don't know the parc, take a look at the map or try to understand the following words : coming from the school, cross rue de Belleville, go up a bit on the rue Piat and you'll find the belverdere.
Hop on one foot, scratch your head, touch your toes and say "Gilili" to a scary person you don't know ; now, cry for help, we will be there ;)
Of course, as architects, we know you can understand the wonderful map bellow.

It will be canceled if mister weather wants to make a joke...

SCHOOL: Computer access

Every student at the ENSAPB can get his/her own log-in to access the school computers. This also allows you to save files under your name. In order to get your account you must sign the "règles d'usage des ressources informatiques de l'ENSAPB" and hand it in to the office next to the computer room (level -2).

You can find this paper in this computer room, next to the printers. This year, all students can also get their own e-mail address @paris-belleville.archi.fr. You'll find the info on how to get it on the same sheet as the "computer rules".
Good luck!

GOING OUT: Nuits Blanches 2008

We would like to remind you of this weekend's main event: the Paris NUITS BLANCHES 2008.

It is the BIG artistic event in the capital! Throughout the night the city is alive with various artistic events, contemporary art, poetry, music, theater... If you like contemporary art - or not - or just want to see Paris alive and full of people in the dead of night, put on your best walking shoes, and don't miss this!!
The event lasts all night, the metro stays open until 2am, but there is also other special transportation facilities in place throughout the night. But from previous experience, we can tell you that this event gathers hundreds of people in paris, and the night buses tend to be very full! So plan to be walking a lot! For the complete program see:

SCHOOL: presentation of the courses next monday & tuesday

This monday and tuesday (22 and 23 of September), at 1.p.m (on both days) the Design Studio and Seminars will be presented by the teachers.

Prepare yourself to hear a fast paced French and to do a heroic effort to take notes! If you have any doubts ... well, just sit next to a friendly-looking French and ask him/her (not to often...) what is the teacher rumbling. It's likely to be important to the rest of your career! It will be very difficult for us to help you there since we won't hear the exact speech of the teachers. One suggestion: voice-record the presentations. Do it with your cell phone if you don't have a tape recorder. Then ... we can finally help you!

From the part of MELTING POTES, we wish you GOOD LUCK !!!
